Sterling Custom Homes poured the slab recently at 212 Black Wolf Run in Flintrock Falls. This is our new “quick-delivery” home that overlooks the #5 Fairway of the Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. This home includes 4 bedrooms (2 on the main level), 4.5 baths, an awesome layout with a huge Master Suite, Gameroom / Media Room combination and many more outstanding features.

The foundation stage is critical to the final quality of a home, therefore prior to pouring the foundation many preparatory measures must be taken. A structural engineer must create the slab design, calculate the load, analyze the elasticity of soil and determine slab drops, drainage, etc. At Sterling, we use hand-tied steel reinforced slabs for our homes, which results in a more stable foundation. A concrete pump then delivers the concrete and serves to eradicate separation of sand, rock and cement, control water content, and reduce the time of the pour.

The current cool weather conditions are ideal for pouring a slab. In the summer, we schedule the slab pours for very early in the morning to assure that the concrete is in place before the heat has a chance to speed the curing process.

Soon, the form boards will be stripped and the lumber will be dropped on site. The framing will begin and the luxury Austin home will start to take shape. Check back to this blog to monitor the progress of this fabulous home!
