Over the past few years, we have seen Austin custom homes trend toward including more open, inviting media room spaces. In the past, the media room was a closed-off, dark room created in a space where, often times, there was no outside wall suitable for windows. These design criteria made good use of otherwise useless space in many Austin custom homes.
Most recently there has been a trend towards a more interactive, social space utilizing the great viewing experience of the media room. We have developed a “hybrid” of the two concepts that has been very popular with our Austin custom home clients. The idea, which we first presented in the 2006 HBA Parade of Homes in Seven Oaks, is to combine the Media Room and the Gameroom so that interesting programming, such as a big sporting event or awards show, could be viewed from a more social environment in the home.
We also have taken into consideration the need for a closed-in, theater type of environment. By adding a thick, theater-type curtain to close off the media room, our clients can enjoy the dark, private theater experience as well.
We have even carried this concept into out new Platinum Collection of affordable luxury homes in Austin. Our Platinum Plan 4222, which we are currently building in Flintrock Falls, has a large gameroom/media room combination that sets up perfectly for the curtain enclosure described above. The home is under construction at 212 Black Wolf Run, on the 5th fairway of the Nicklaus Designed Flintrock Falls Golf Course. Aggressively priced at $929,780 and ready for occupancy in May 2010!
