BLOG Austin Symphonic BandAs the premier Austin custom homebuilder, we love our city and all that it has to offer. With Father’s Day just around the corner, here are some fun activities that dad might enjoy:

The Austin Symphonic Band will be performing Sunday, June 16th at Zilker Park Hillside Theatre in celebration of Fathers Day.  The ASB is the official band of the city of Austin and will be performing in their annual concert from 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM.  Well-known works such as Strike up the Band by George Gershwin, Americans We by Henry Fillmore, A Little Tango Music by Adam Gorb, El Capitan & Stars and Stripes Forever by John Phillip Sousa will be presented.  Fourteen arrangements (and one intermission) for the whole family’s enjoyment will be performed in the outdoor venue across from Barton Springs Pool.

Bring a picnic and spread your blanket out under the pecan trees to enhance your enjoyment of the forecasted sunny day.  Along the walls of the top of the Hillside you can place full-height lawn chairs without blocking the view of other attendees and low backed beach chairs can be placed in the section behind the lighting poles on the second level.  A place and seat for everyone, a perfect Austin forecast and a cultural event only offered in the “Live Music Capitol of the World” is the perfect end to a special day.

If indoors is more your style then head over to the Alamo Drafthouse Village at 2700 W. Anderson Lane for the 12:35 PM showing of Paper Moon, starring Ryan O’Neal and Tatum O’Neal in leading roles of the depression-era story. Following the movie, choose your favorite local restaurant or food trailer and take a stroll around Town Lake before making your way to the Alamo Drafthouse Lake Creek at 13729 Research Blvd., for the 7:00 PM showing of one of the greatest WWII movies ever made, The Great Escape.

Indoors or out, we hope you have a Happy Father’s Day!
