Have you ever been frustrated with the endless papers, receipts, documents and manuals? Many of which a hard copy is unnecessary. Have you considered transitioning to a partial or full paperless office due to growing clutter? It is a worthy consideration….taking the time to scan in those things you really need, saving them on your computer and external hard drive, and subsequently shredding the information.
In considering the conversion process and available technology you could use a regular scanner, or document scanner like Neat Receipts or Canon- these are a couple of examples which include the software that aids in the paperless organization. While I have not used either, I understand that Neat Receipts takes your info directly into an inbox until you are ready to move it into the appropriate file.
We are such a mobile society and the need to function anywhere at any time becomes necessary in our personal lives, as well as our business lives. In conducting a quick research for this idea of going paperless, I discovered just a few obvious essentials you will need for this journey. A laptop, a portable document scanner so that you can scan, save digitally then shred or recycle the paper (excluding legal docs), an external hard drive or a secure server on which to backup and store your files, a jump drive for easy transportation of most needed files, a surge protector and an uninterrupted power supply for your computer.
The process seems simple enough if you discover the software and document scanner that meets your needs. I would love to hear any comments or suggestions from those who are currently practicing or researching this process! Just imagine a less cluttered home office environment!
