When it comes to building your Austin custom home’s dream custom kitchen, choosing the style and features of your appliances can be a bit overwhelming with all the brands and options available in today’s market. At Wilson Appliance, we offer five functional kitchens allowing you the opportunity to discover the perfect appliance for your needs.
Things to consider for narrowing your selection……
- How much and what type of cooking do you enjoy? (baking, grilling, etc.)
- Do you like the look of a professional kitchen with all stainless steel appliances or a more integrated look with wood fronts?
- Do you want your cooktop to be gas or electric?
- Do you prefer the look of a professional range, or the ergonomic convenience of a separate cooking surface and wall ovens?
- How important is the microwave to you, and how big do you want it to be?
- Do you like a water and ice dispenser on your refrigerator outer door, or are you going for a more integrated furniture style look?
- Do you want your vent hood to be a focal point of your kitchen or hidden behind a stone arch or within a custom surround?
- Do you use a lot of ice, or is the icemaker in the freezer of your refrigerator adequate?
- Do you have a need for extra beverage storage? Do you like to keep a large selection of wines?
Some current trends in the appliance market include:
- Magnetic induction is the most efficient cooking mode today and is becoming more widely available across product lines. It enables the cook to prepare a dish in a fraction of the normal time. There are further added benefits including faster response time, an infinite level of temperature control, the ease of cleaning the ceramic glass top and the digital touch controls. It is also a safer, lower temperature heat source, helping to keep the risk of burns to a minimum.
- Steam is another method featured in today’s most innovative cooking products. Miele has offered an independent steam oven for many years, and other manufacturers are now using steam to aid in traditional ovens and as a cooktop accessory. Steam added to traditional or convection ovens allows for beautiful, moist roast chickens and crusty artisan breads. Outside of the kitchen, steam is also being added to washers and dryers in order to give the consumer every option needed for cleaning or refreshing their laundry.
- Energy and water conservation are areas in which manufacturers have also made improvements. For example, an Energy Star Qualified washer can save enough money in operating costs over its lifetime to pay for the matching dryer. Instead of twisting and pulling clothes around an agitator, high efficiency washers use sophisticated wash systems that gently flip and spin clothes through a stream of water while protecting all fabrics including silk and hand washables. Without a bulky agitator, there is more usable space for laundry. Larger capacity means fewer loads of laundry each week, saving time and energy!
Both Sterling Homes and Wilson Appliance have built their businesses and great reputations by providing their clients with the personal, professional attention that makes the building process both enjoyable and educational.
