We’ve all been there: Stuck at an airport from a delayed flight. But, how long did you have to wait: a few hours or overnight? However long you had to stay grounded, I bet it wasn’t for 18 years. That’s exactly how long “The Refugee” has been stuck at an airport in Jonathan Dove’s opera, Flight.

Although the characters in the opera are grounded, you don’t have to be. Escape your new homes in Austin for a night of adventure at The Long Center for the Performing Arts to watch this intriguing tale performed by the Austin Lyric Opera. Afraid to go to the opera because you think you won’t be able to understand what anyone is saying? Don’t worry. Flight is performed in English and even has English Supertitles (like subtitles, but above the stage) to help you out.

Show times are April 9, 13 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and April 17 at 3 p.m., and ticket prices range from $20 to $200. For more information, visit the Austin Lyric Opera website or call 512-472-5992.
