What “Building Now” Means at Sterling

Since 1989, Sterling Custom Homes has built one project at a time with the same level of attention, whether it’s a 3,000-square-foot Hill Country retreat or a sprawling lakefront estate. Because we manage a limited number of builds at once, every home you see in progress here is getting the same hands-on oversight and dedicated attention from our team.

Each home moves through the same process: site preparation and foundation, framing and dry-in, rough mechanical (plumbing, electrical, HVAC), insulation and drywall, cabinetry and finish carpentry, and final mechanical trim-out before a detailed walkthrough. Most custom homes with Sterling move through this process in roughly 12–16 months, depending on size, site conditions, and the complexity of custom features, but we’ll give you a realistic, project-specific timeline during pre-construction planning.

Most Sterling custom homes take approximately 12 to 16 months from groundbreaking to final walkthrough, depending on the home’s size, site conditions, and the complexity of custom features like pools, outdoor living spaces, or specialty finishes. We provide a detailed, project-specific timeline before construction begins.

Yes. Sterling clients are welcome to visit their job sites throughout the build, and our team will coordinate site visits at key milestones so you can see your home’s progress firsthand.

Every Sterling client has access to our online client portal, where you can view real-time photo updates, schedules, selections, and direct messages with your project team.
