When designing the home, many people think that the swimming pool design needs to be finalized prior to construction. We prefer, when possible, to simply “save the space” for the pool and get into the details of swimming pool design after the foundation has been poured and the house has been framed up. This allows our clients to get a better feel for the pool/house relationship and enables them to take advantage of the precise view corridors that they wish to showcase.
However, sometime we find that access is limited or impossible based on the lot characteristics and neighboring properties. In these cases we spend much more time up-front on the pool design. We then construct the pool foundation first, prior to the home foundation. In these instances it becomes very important to understand and visualize the pool/house relationship – even before the house construction has begun.
