Enjoying an Austin Summer, Even in August

By the time August rolls around, most residents of Austin have retreated from the wealth of fun outdoor activities that make this vibrant city so fun and into the air conditioning. Parents are familiar with the cabin fever that occurs during the late summer heat waves. You don’t have to give in to summer fatigue, and can still enjoy the remaining summer time!
Austin has plenty of things to do during the summer that won’t reduce you to a sweaty, dehydrated blob. About the only outdoor fun that can be safely enjoyed during hot Augusts involve being in or around water. For swimming, Barton Springs is fun, unique, and nice and cool. (You can also take a dip in your beautiful Sterling custom pool if you want to have fun at home.) For cooler mornings and evenings, boating on Lake Austin can’t be beat. Renting canoes, paddle boards, kayaks, and peddle boats is cheap, easy, and fun!
For indoor fun, Austin has numerous museums like the Bullock Texas State History Museum and the Texas Memorial Museum that everyone in your family can enjoy. Sites like Do512 and Free Austin have listings of family friendly events around town.
If you need a quiet day at home, you can still relax and enjoy your custom Sterling Home. Our beautiful luxury homes are designed to keep you and your family cool no matter how hot it is outside.
