Summer is in bloom and you can see it every time that you step out of your Austin luxury real estate. To celebrate the beauty of the season, sculptures by Texas native T.J. Mabrey are currently on exhibition at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Now through August 21, “Aqueous Matters” visitors can enjoy strolling through the outdoor exhibit, which is blooming with wildflowers, and taking in her dozen works of art.

A native of Austin herself, Mabrey has designed 12 large-scale sculptures made with Italian marble and Texas limestone. Each of the statues seeks to capture the interesting qualities of water, an element acknowledged to be necessary for life while still paradoxically nurturing and destructive. The works of art have been arranged into six settings that emphasize the artist’s passion for natural themes and love for flowing art forms.

Near the exhibit’s entrance, “Four Cisterns” is a rendering of Texas’ historical water tanks. The work “Life Boat” is near the Center’s Wetland Pond and portrays the seed and the serpent, as well as chemical symbols for water and iron.

The cost to attend the exhibit is $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and students, $3 for children ages 5-12 and is free for members.
